Efianayi scores 19, leads Gardner-Webb over High Point 69-67

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Dave Efianayi scored 19 points and had seven assists and Gardner-Webb held off High Point 69-67 on Wednesday night to end a two-game skid.

Jose Perez scored 17 points with four 3-pointers and Jaheam Cornwall added 11 points for the Runnin' Bulldogs (13-9, 3-4 Big South Conference), who were outrebounded 39-21 but made 12 of 24 3-pointers and scored 20 points off of 17 Panthers' turnovers.

Eric Jamison's layup broke open back-and-forth play and sparked a 10-0 Gardner-Webb run for a 57-48 lead early in the second half. High Point closed to 68-64 on Brandon Kamga's layup with nine seconds left, but Efianayi made 1 of 2 from the line before Jahaad Proctor hit a 3 at the buzzer.

High Point led by as many as six and the Bulldogs by as many as three before Proctor's layup put the Panthers up 37-35 at halftime after 11 lead changes and three ties.

Proctor scored 21 points, Ricky Madison added 16 with nine rebounds and Kamga scored 12 with 10 boards for Panthers (11-10, 4-3).
