Derrickson's 27 carries Georgetown past St. John's in 2OT (Jan 20, 2018)

WASHINGTON (AP) Marcus Derrickson scored a career-high 27 points, 16 in the two overtime periods, Jagan Mosely made two free throws with 1.5 seconds left, and Georgetown escaped with a 93-89 victory on Saturday and a season sweep of St. John's.

In a game overshadowed by Hall of Fame rivals coaching their alma maters, Derrickson gave the Hoyas and coach Patrick Ewing bragging rights. Georgetown won 69-66 at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

It appeared the Red Storm and coach Chris Mullin would earn a split until Derrickson's contested deep 3-pointer from the top of the key tied the game at 79 with 3.9 seconds left in the first overtime. Dickerson, who also had 11 rebounds, scored all 10 points for the Hoyas in the extra session. He scored the first basket of the second overtime and Mosley followed with a 3-point play but St. John's wouldn't go away.

Jarmorko Pickett and Jessie Govan had 16 points apiece for the Hoyas (13-6, 3-5 Big East), Jahvon Blair added 15 and Mosely 12, seven in the second OT.
