Cooks, Pickett lead Winthrop over Presbyterian 63-49 (Feb 07, 2018)

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) Xavier Cooks scored 18 points, Adam Pickett added 17 and Winthrop pulled away for a 63-49 win over Presbyterian on Wednesday night for its 10th-straight win in the series.

Winthrop (15-9, 9-4 Big South) led 32-21 at halftime, the ninth straight time the Eagles had a lead on the Blue Hose at the break. Presbyterian scored the first seven points out of intermission and after a 3-point play by Cooks, scored nine straight to take a 37-35 lead. J.C. Younger had nine points in the 16-3 run.

Younger's 3 tied the game midway through the second half but Cooks and Pickett combined for seven straight and Cooks had four more as that turned into a 16-2 run and a 56-42 lead with 4 1/2 minutes to go.

Younger and Reggie Dillard both scored 12 points for the Blue Hose (10-16, 3-10).
