Who needs Tiger? Stanford gets high-powered support in Memphis
If star power in the cheering section determined outcomes, Stanford’s season would be still alive, the Cardinal preparing for Saturday’s regional final in Memphis.
Instead, the season is over, but at least the Cardinal got some pretty cool keepsakes out of it.
Before 10-seed Stanford ultimately fell to 11-seed Dayton in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night, the "Harvard of the West" flexed its muscle in the stands.

Sherman played both receiver and defensive back at Stanford, his final season coming in 2010. Rice was a provost at Stanford before serving as Secretary of State in the George W. Bush administration and is currently a professor of political economy and political science at the school.
A member of the new College Football Playoff selection committee, Rice has long been a fan of Stanford athletics.
