Collinsworth gets 4th triple-double; BYU beats Pacific 93-80
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) Kyle Collinsworth tied the NCAA single-season record with his fourth triple-double and Brigham Young beat Pacific 93-80 on Thursday night.
Collinsworth had a career-best 11 assists to go with 17 points and 11 rebounds. His tenth rebound with 3:22 left in the game made him the fifth player in NCAA history to achieve four triple-doubles in a season and the first since Stephane Lasme (UMass, 2006-07).
BYU (15-5, 5-2 West Coast) led the whole game and pulled away for good during a 17-5 run to go up 80-63 on Tyler Haws’ free throws with 6 minutes left. Haws led the Cougars with 26 points. Chase Fischer scored 18 points and Skyler Halford added 15, starting in place of the injured Anson Winder (knee sprain).
Pacific (9-9, 1-5) stayed tight with BYU for most of the first half until the Cougars scored six straight to lead 43-34 at the break.
T.J. Wallace led the Tigers with 18 points. Gabriel Aguirre added 15, Eric Thompson 13 and Dulani Robinson 12.
