Ken Horton scored 28 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead
Central Connecticut State to a 66-47 win over Monmouth (N.J.) on
Horton’s 20-plus point effort was the 25th of his career, which
is the most among active players in the Northeast Conference.
The Blue Devils (11-7, 4-3) fell behind 11-2 early and still
trailed 19-10 with 8:55 remaining in the opening half before ending
on a 19-4 run to take a 29-23 halftime lead.
Central Connecticut State stretched its lead to as many as 22,
64-42, with 2:09 left to play. Monmouth shot 19 for 56 from the
floor (33.9 percent), including 3 of 20 from beyond the arc (15
Shemik Thompson scored 12 points and Robby Ptacek added 10 for
the Blue Devils, who have won seven of their past nine games.
