NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Ahmad Caver scored 17 points and dished eight assists and Old Dominion routed Charlotte 72-48 on Saturday night.

Caver was 7 of 13 from the floor including a pair of 3-pointers for the Monarchs (16-10, 9-5 Conference USA). Zoran Talley added another 17 points with five rebounds and three assist and Brandan Stith had 12 points and nine rebounds. The team averaged 44 percent shooting compared to 30 percent for Charlotte. The 49ers (11-14, 5-9) were also plagued by 18 turnovers, 11 of which were Old Dominion steals.

Old Dominion led 32-25 at intermission. Charlotte cut it to 50-46 with 6:58 to play in the second but went cold after that, as the Monarchs ran up the score and cruised to the win.

The Monarchs are currently placed third in the conference behind second place Louisiana Tech and no. 1 Middle Tennessee.

Sophomore Jon Davis accounted for over half of Charlotte's total, leading the 49ers with 26 points.
