Bryant, Childs lead BYU to 69-59 win over San Francisco (Jan 04, 2018)

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Elijah Bryant had 17 points and Yoeli Childs scored nine of his 13 in the final 10 minutes to help BYU pull away late for a 69-59 win over San Francisco on Thursday night.

Childs made 6 of 9 from the field with eight rebounds and Bryant added seven rebounds. Jashire Hardnett scored 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting for BYU (13-3, 2-1 West Coast Conference).

The Cougars led by as many as 13 points in the first half and took a 33-26 lead into the break. San Francisco (9-7, 1-2) chipped away throughout the second half, tying the score twice before taking its first lead when Matt McCarthy and Jordan Ratinho hit back-to-back 3-pointers to make it about 8 1/2 minutes to go. Childs answered with a dunk and, after Souley Boum's layup gave the Dons a 55-53 lead, made a free throw before Bryant hit a 3-pointer and a jumper to give BYU a four-point lead. USF missed 8 of 9 from the field in the last seven-plus minutes as the Cougars pulled away.

McCarthy led the Dons with 16 points and Chase Foster scored 14.
