Bryan's lone bucket gives UNCW 80-78 win over Elon in OT (Jan 11, 2018)

ELON, N.C. (AP) Jaylen Fornes scored 20 points and Marcus Bryan's only basket of the game was the winning layup with 23.4 seconds left in overtime, and gave UNCW an 80-78 win over Elon on Thursday night.

The Phoenix had a chance to tie but Sheldon Eberhardt missed the first of two free throws with 4.1 seconds remaining. He missed the second free throw intentionally but Devontae Cacok snared the rebound for UNCW. Cacok missed both free throws before teammate Ty Taylor grabbed Elon's long pass to run out the clock.

Taylor had 17 points for the Seahawks (5-12, 2-3 Colonial Athletic Association), Cacock had 14 points and 17 rebounds and Jordan Talley had 14 with 10 assists. Bryan had 11 rebounds to go with his two points.

Tyler Seibring had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Phoenix (11-7, 3-2), with Steven Santa Ana scoring 15.

UNCW had a 46-39 lead at the half, thanks to a 15-0 run that featured five 3-pointers, three by Fornes. Elon erased its deficit with an 11-0 run started by a Dmitri Thompson 3 midway through second half. Cacock's layup with 11.7 left put UNCW up but Seibring answered with a layup at 2.5, to force overtime.
