Brown, Clayton lift Coppin St. past Savannah St. 84-83 (Feb 20, 2017)

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Chas Brown scored 19 points with 9-for-12 shooting and hauled in 12 rebounds and Dejuan Clayton sank the winning bucket to lift Coppin State to an 84-83 win over Savannah State on Monday night.

Coppin State edged into its first lead of the game with Brown's layup to make it 78-76 with 2:13 left to play. Dexter McClanahan nailed a 3-pointer at the other end to put Savannah State back on top until the final three seconds of the game, when Clayton grabbed an offensive board and put in the winning basket.

Brown then blocked Troyce Manassa's 3-point attempt just ahead of the buzzer to clinch the win.

Tre' Thomas added 15 points for Coppin State (8-21, 7-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) and Keith Shivers had 10.

Savannah State (10-16, 7-6) got five 3-pointers and career-high-tying 28 points from Dexter McClanahan. Manassa finished with 22 points.
