Bethune-Cookman rolls past Johnson U 108-66 (Nov 10, 2017)

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Shawntrez Davis had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 108-66 win over Johnson University on Friday night in Bryan Ridder's first game as coach of the Wildcats.

Malik Maitland also had a double-double with 16 points and 12 assists, Brandon Tabb added 16 points, Armani Collins 14 and Jeffery Altidort 13. The 12 assists were the most by a Wildcat in Division I.

Bethune-Cookman raced to an early 23-9 lead six minutes in, led 53-38 at the half and stretched the lead to 42 points with 7:33 to play.

Johnson University shot 40 percent, going 4 of 15 from 3-point range while Bethune-Cookman shot 61 percent, making 12 of 21 from 3-point range.

Jaymeke Smith had 15 points, Josh Grover 13 and Nick Byrd 11 for the Suns.
