Barford scores 17 to lead Arkansas past Texas-Arlington
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) Jaylen Barford scored 17 points as Arkansas overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to defeat Texas-Arlington 71-67 on Friday night.
Barford, one of the top junior-college recruits in the country a year ago, added six rebounds and three steals – all which came in the second half and led to layups by the first-year junior for the Razorbacks (3-0).
Anton Beard added 12 points off the bench and Dusty Hannahs had 11 for Arkansas, which opened the second half on a 20-2 run and held on in the closing minutes for the win.
Erick Neal had 15 points to lead the Mavericks (1-3), who have now lost three straight games after leading at halftime. Drew Charles also finished in double figures with 11 for Texas-Arlington, while Jalen Jones had 10.
