Braden Smith - Reaches 1,000 career assists Smith closed Thursday's 76-74 loss to Michigan State with 12 points (4-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in 37 minutes.
Impact Smith has been a four-year starter at Purdue, and in his 138th collegiate game, he became the fifth college basketball player of all-time to accumulate 1,000 career assists, recording the milestone number on a first-half basket by Trey Kaufman-Renn. Smith now has a realistic chance to catch Bobby Hurley for the all-time mark of 1.076. Purdue has three more regular season games remaining before the Big Ten Tournament and a sure NCAA Tournament bid.
