Impact Ayayi surpassed his previous career-high of 13 boards with 18 in the victory as he accounted for over half of Gonzaga's rebounds. He wasn't all that involved in the offensive game plan, which isn't all that unusual, but he was able to contribute in the passing game. Ayayi is shooting an efficient 56 percent on this season thus far.

Impact Ayayi now has a 20-point game under his belt after accomplishing that just twice last season, but where he really shines is on the defensive end. He already has seven steals in three games, in addition to seven or more rebounds in each contest. With Drew Timme and Anton Watson in foul trouble Wednesday (both eventually fouled out), Ayayi's rebounding efforts were vital against a tough West Virginia front line. Gonzaga still lost the total rebounding by five, but still came away victorious by five points.

Impact Ayayi returns to Gonzaga after initially declaring for the NBA Draft, and is the third leading scorer returning after averaging 10.6 points and 6.3 rebounds last season. He was an efficient shooter in 2019-20, averaging 35% from three and 48% from the field overall. With three other three teammates also on the Naismith watch list as well as Florida transfer Andrew Nembhard in the rotation, there is no shortage of talent for the Bulldogs heading into the season.
