Lands with Houston Carlton has committed to Houston for his final season of eligibility, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Houston was already one of the best rebounding teams in the nation during its 2021 Final Four run, ranking second in the country in offensive rebounding rate behind a quartet of forwards who are all upperclassmen. It's unclear if Justin Gorham, Fabian White or Brison Gresham will be returning for a bonus year of eligibility, as those decisions will be the biggest factors in projecting Carlton's playing time in 2021-22. Carlton would immediately bring the Cougars some size and shot-blocking ability, and has plenty of reps working as both a starter and a reserve. HIs playing time was almost cut in half between his junior and senior years at UConn, though ankle and knee injuries likely played a role in that. Now presumably healthy, Carlton could take on a big role on a program already in excellent shape under head coach Kelvin Sampson.
