Watch the NBA’s moving Martin Luther King Jr. tribute video

To commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday Jan. 19, the NBA has released a brief but poignant video titled "Breaking Barriers," highlighting the league’s racial and cultural diversity.

The message accompanying the video reads:

"The NBA has a strong history of firsts when it comes to breaking down racial barriers and proverbial glass ceilings. In this spot, we explore the strides made within the NBA that not only embody Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, but the overall guiding principles of the Civil Rights movement."

King delivered that famous speech on Aug. 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington, attended by approximately 250,000 Americans.
