Photos: Cubs’ wild-card hero Jake Arrieta’s son pours champagne down dad’s throat

For the first time in a long time, the Chicago Cubs won a postseason game on Wednesday night, thanks largely to another dominating pitching performance by righty Jake Arrieta in a 4-0 shutout of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Wild Card Game.

Outfielders Dexter Fowler and Kyle Schwarber supplied all the run support Arrieta would need, and after the game Arrieta’s 3-year-old son Cooper provided his jubilant father with a celebratory champagne pour.

Take a look:

The 29-year-old bearded ace, who "looks like a reclaimed wood furniture maker in Brooklyn" (@hangingsliders), went the distance, striking out 11 and allowing only four hits. The Cubs will face another division rival, the St. Louis Cardinals, in the NLDS beginning on Friday when Jon Lester takes the mound against the Cardinals’ John Lackey in St. Louis.

The Cubs only had one night to celebrate and they certainly did that well. Check out some more photos of Arrieta sharing the moment with Cooper and his wife Brittany:
