Aaron Rodgers thankful for election votes over Harambe
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is thankful to those who decided to write in his name for president in Tuesday's presidential election, he tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
“I just want to thank all the voters out there who did vote for me,” Rodgers said. “I know for some people it was between me and Harambe. I think I finished second in that vote.”
Harambe was the gorilla that was shot and killed at the Cincinnati zoo after a child fell into its enclosure in May. Harambe has posthumously been celebrated with tributes, t-shirts and has inspired countless social media memes.
Rodgers did not disclose who he voted for but knew that the night would be “historic” regardless of the winner. He has 2,039 passing yards and 20 touchdowns on the season for the 4–4 Packers.
Wisconsin ended up being a battleground state that went to President-elect Donald Trump.
