Pascal has arthroscopic surgery on right shoulder
WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal had arthroscopic
surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday and will be unable to
train or fight for about nine weeks.
Pascal hurt the shoulder while successfully defending his
175-pound (79-kilogram) title by unanimous decision against Adrian
Diaconu on Friday.
Doctors removed a bone chip and repaired the labrum in his
shoulder, promoter Groupe Yvon Michel said in a statement. Pascal
will rest for three weeks, then do five or six weeks of rehab
before resuming normal training.
Pascal won the WBC title from Diaconu last year. He is supposed
to face interim champion Chad Dawson in his next bout, although his
managers hope for an optional defense first.
