Alcine earns unanimous decision over Canclaux

Former junior middleweight champion Joachim Alcine moved one

step closer to a shot at a second world title with a hard-fought

unanimous decision over France’s Christophe Canclaux on Saturday

night.

Alcine was awarded the win with scores of 115-113, 117-110 and

117-110.

Alcine, a native of Laval, Quebec, improved to 32-1 with 19

knockouts since losing his WBA title to Daniel Santos in July 2008

by way of a sixth round knockout.

Canclaux (40-3, 25 KOs) was rated in the top 10 going into the

fight by three of the major sanctioning bodies. Alcine is expected

to be ranked third by the WBC when the next ratings are

published.
