PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — Charles Smith IV scored 28 points as Prairie View A&M beat Mississippi Valley State 71-60 on Saturday night.
Smith was 11 of 19 shooting, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 5 from the line for the Panthers (6-10, 1-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Nick Gazelas scored 16 points, going 6 of 13 (4 for 9 from 3-point range). Brian Myles shot 6 of 9 from the field to finish with 13 points, while adding 12 rebounds and three steals. The Panthers snapped a five-game skid.
The Delta Devils (0-16, 0-3) were led by Rayquan Brown, who recorded 17 points and seven rebounds. Donovan Sanders added 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals for Mississippi Valley State. In addition, Reginald Reynolds had 11 points. The loss is the 16th straight for the Delta Devils.
