Vin Scully, an American classic, imparts some D-backs-related wisdom
We love our guys Steve Berthiaume and Bob Brenly in the FOX Sports Arizona broadcast booth, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the guys calling the shots for the opposing nine.
Especially the one and only Vin Scully, who’s in his final season calling Dodgers games.
On Thursday night, Scully riffed on the bad rap given the No. 13 — a digression triggered by the Diamondbacks scoring the game’s first run on an RBI single by Nick Ahmed, who wears the number:

Ahmed wasn’t the only Diamondbacks player to inspire words of wisdom from Vin during the three game series. Scully gave L.A. viewers a poignant history lesson in Tuesday’s home opener when Socrates Brito came to the plate — musing on the ancient Greek philosophy superstar Socrates and the poisonous plant that caused his demise:
And then, later in the game, when Brito delivered an RBI triple, he wrapped it up with a Scully-esque bow.
Say, could we maybe petition for a 13-year delay on those retirement plans?
