Taylor Kelly, Austin Hill fare well in East-West Shrine game

West quarterback Taylor Kelly, of Arizona State, drops back to pass during the first quarter of Saturday's East-West Shrine Classic at Tropicana Field.

Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly completed 7 of 15 passes for 65 yards, and Arizona receiver Austin Hill four catches for 41 yards as the West team lost to the East team 19-3 on Saturday in the 90th East-West Shrine Classic in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Kelly was the leading passer of the West’s three quarterbacks, and Hill was the team’s leading receiver.

Kelly, a three-year starter with the Sun Devils, also led the West in rushing with 23 yards on five carries.

Arizona offensive lineman Mickey Baucus also played in the showcase for seniors from across the country.

South Florida’s Marvin Kloss made four field goals to help the East beat the West. Dominique Brown of Louisville had the game’s only touchdown, a 1-yard touchdown run in the final minute.

Florida Atlantic’s Damian Parms had two interceptions — neither of Kelly — for a dominating East defense that limited the West to 93 yards. The East finished with 260 yards of offense.
