Romo tries to kick ball for a cheap first down

Tony Romo might want to take up soccer.

After a DeMarco Murray run came up short on third-and-1 midway through the third quarter on Sunday, Romo attempted to give the Dallas Cowboys an advantage after the whistle.

Standing next to the official closest to the ball, the Cowboys quarterback used his right foot to improve the spot. But the attempt was unsuccessful as several Minnesota Vikings players and the official caught the sly move.

Vikings defensive end Jared Allen pleaded for Romo to be flagged but the officials simply reset the spot.

Was it a smart move by a veteran QB or just too risky?

“I was playing around,” Romo said. “I was hoping they missed it. Actually, I slipped.”

Romo then flashed a smile and fielded another question.
