Romo: Tebow has ‘a bright future’ with Jets

Standing on the Cowboys Stadium field over the weekend, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo , who was in Arlington to pass along advice to high school QBs at the Dallas Elite 11 Regional Quarterback Camp, gave his take on Tim Tebow being traded to the New York Jets.

“I thought Tim had a great season last year,” Romo told ESPN. “I think he continues to grow as a quarterback and he’s got a bright future.”

It appeared Tebow had a bright future in Denver after leading the Broncos to a playoff win in his first season as a starting quarterback. But when future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning became a free agent, everything changed. So, why would the Jets, a team that already has a franchise QB in Mark Sanchez, bring in Tebow in exchange for a fourth- and sixth-round draft pick.

“Any time a team can get better, I think they’re always trying to upgrade and that’s part of a front office’s job is to help the football team,” Romo said. “I think that’s all that teams are doing.”
