We know who will play for all the marbles in Class-5A Saturday on FSSW!!!
2pm — Division I Championship– Euless-Trinity vs. Austin Westlake
Trinity goes for their 4th State Title and doesn’t have a major college signee this year!
Steve Lineweaver is one of the best coaches in the state at adapting to his team. The Trojans believe…when you got the Haka Dance, why not?
We can’t call Austin Westlake a “cinderalla” but, in many ways they are. Nobody thought they’d be the one standing in the state title game. Coach Darren Allman comes over from Permian and coached the Chaps up with discipline in his first year. Quarterback Tanner Price is “Right!” Westlake took out Katy Cinco Ranch, who took out some heavyweights along the way but, so did Westlake. They beat Madison, Judson, and Clark.
7pm — Division II Championship–Katy vs. Abilene
Abilene might be the best team in any class. RB Herschel Sims is only a junior and will be the best returning back in the state! On the way, Abilene beat #1 Cedar Hill, and Horns Coach Joey Macguire said Abilene is the best team in Texas.
Sorry Southlake Carroll, Katy is making a serious case for team of the decade. Going for the 3-peat and 4th title in this decade! The Mighty Tigers are rockin’ to another championship year! Granted, they didn’t have to deal with the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex teams, that beat each other up….only to lose to Abilene.
Amazing Stories ——-
Pilot Point — Wins their 3rd State Championship, capturing the Class 2A DII Title. The whole community rallied around their star RB Jarman Johnson, who lost his father to cancer during the ride to the state crown.
Lake Travis — On the verge of the 3-peat. The Cavs have won 46 games in a row! Next challenge, Longview. The Lobos “Loboed-Up” to take out Denton Guyer. They play a second re-match in back-to-back weeks from last year’s playoffs. This is the one they’ve played the whole season for. Garrett Gilbert graduated to UT…no problem…Michael Brewer is lighting up scoreboards like X-Mas Trees!
6-Man — Garden City upset mighty Strawn 122-88 to win the State Title. Many think it
