Report: Jermaine O’Neal leaning toward Boston over Dallas, Denver

Multiple reports indicate that Jermaine O’Neal is leaning towards signing with the Boston Celtics over the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Boston has offered O’Neal the midlevel exception of $5.8 million over two seasons.

O’Neal would fill the void in the middle for the Celtics, who will be missing Kendrick Perkins for five to six months after injuring his knee in the playoffs.

O’Neal averaged 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Heat last season.

The Dallas Morning News’ Eddie Sefko reported that according to a source, the Mavericks are more likely to pursue Jermaine O’Neal than Shaquille O’Neal, despite reports saying the Mavericks are interested in acquiring Shaquille O’Neal.
