Rangers Send RHP Grilli, C Richardson to Minors
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have sent right-handed reliever Jason Grilli and catcher Kevin Richardson outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The team said Wednesday that Grilli is expected to decline the assignment and become a free agent. Both players cleared waivers.
Grilli went 2-3 with a save and a 5.32 ERA in 52 appearances with Colorado and Texas this year. The Rangers acquired him for cash from the Rockies in June.
Richardson made his major league debut with the Rangers, but spent most of the season at Oklahoma City. He went 3 for 6 in four games with Texas and hit .216 in 74 games for Oklahoma City.
