NAU falls short at South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. -- Payton Banks made five 3-pointers and scored 23 points and Stephan Jiggetts added 17 points and eight assists as South Florida beat Northern Arizona 70-56 on Monday night.

Banks, who made half his team's 3s, went on his own 11-4 run in the last three minutes of the first half with three 3-pointers and a layup to send South Florida to the break with a 33-23 lead.

The Lumberjacks closed the deficit to three after intermission with a 3-pointer from JoJo Anderson and layups from Brooks Debisschop and Karl Harris as the Bulls failed to score until almost four minutes into the second half when Nikola Scekic made a pair of free throws.

NAU (2-10) then went scoreless and Jiggetts added a layup, Isaiah Manderson made a pair of free throws and Banks added a 3 for 42-30 lead. The Lumberjacks never got closer than six the rest of the way.

Debisschop posted career-highs to lead the Lumberjacks with 13 points and 13 rebounds and Anderson added 10 points.
