Mercury acquire forwards Little, Alleyne; send Dupree to Indiana

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday parted ways with five-time All-Star forward Candice Dupree in a three-team deal that brings veteran forward Camille Little and the draft rights to rookie forward Jillian Alleyne to Phoenix.

Dupree, 32, was sent to the Indiana Fever along with a second-round pick in the 2017 draft. Indiana sent forward Lynetta Kizer and the No. 8 pick to the Connecticut Sun, and the Sun sent Little and the rights to Alleyne to the Mercury.

Dupree spent seven seasons with the Mercury after being acquired in a trade from Chicago and was a key part of Phoenix's 2014 championship team. She averaged 14.7 points in her Phoenix tenure but scored a career-low 11.3 points last season.

Little, 32, has a reputation as a top low-post defender. She averaged 7.8 points per game for Connecticut last season, down from her career mark of 9.2. A 6-foot-2 forward, she began her 11-year WNBA career in San Antonio, followed by a brief stop in Atlanta, six and a half seasons in Seattle and two in Connecticut. She averaged a career-high 12.9 points for Seattle in 2014.

"Camille Little brings us a defensive forward who can help us be a great defensive team, and she is a stretch player who will compliment Brittney Griner nicely," Mercury coach Sandy Brondello said.

Alleyne is a 6-foot-3 forward who was originally drafted by the Mercury in the second round of the 2016 draft out of Oregon and then traded to Connecticut. She missed the entire 2016 season while recovering from an ACL injury.
