Frost’s 29 not enough in NAU women’s loss

CHENEY, Wash. — Senior Amanda Frost scored a game-high 29 points, but a big first half by Eastern Washington proved too much for the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team to overcome as the Lumberjacks suffered a 92-68 loss at Reese Court on Thursday night. NAU fell to 4-10 overall and 2-3 in Big Sky conference playl, while Eastern Washington improved to 7-8 and 3-3.

Five early points by junior Erikka Banks helped NAU to a 7-2 lead less than five minutes into the game but the Eagles answered with five points to tie it a 7-7. Frost hit the first of here three 3-pointers to put NAU back in front, but the Eagles went on a game-changing 27-2 run over the next seven minutes and never looked back. The Lumberjacks would only get as close as 17 points in the second half.

Hayley Hodgins scored 26 points, Lexie Nelson 21 and Laura Hughes 20 for the Eagles.

The Lumberjacks return to action Saturday at Portland State.
