ASU’s McKissic gets sixth year of eligibility from NCAA

Shaquielle McKissic averaged 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds for Arizona State last season.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State forward Shaquielle McKissic has been granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA and will return to the Sun Devils next season.

Coach Herb Sendek announced the decision via Twitter on Friday.

McKissic had been designated a senior last season by the NCAA because he graduated in 2009, but he spent two years out of basketball.

The forward, who has turned his life around after serving time in jail for burglary, averaged 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

McKissic will be one of few ASU players on the roster next season with meaningful experience. Point guard Jahii Carson declared for the draft, shooting guard Jermaine Marshall and center Jordan Bachynski graduated, and forward Brandon Kearney and guards Calaen Robinson and Egor Koulechov are transferring.
