Arizona’s Neal philosophical about NCAA denial

TUCSON, Ariz. — DaVonte’ Neal will continue to go to practice

and work to make his teammates better. So it will be business as usual

for the sophomore, who transferred to Arizona from Notre Dame in the

winter.

Neal’s appeal to play this season has been denied by the

NCAA twice, and he is likely to sit out the season as a redshirt. His

appeal was based on his desire to be closer to his infant daughter and

family.

Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said a possible third

appeal could happen, but by Neal’s tone on Wednesday night after

practice he was all but resigned to working on the scout team to make

the first- and second-teamers better.

“I can still come out and

play football every day,” he said. “I get to do what I love every day.

Even if I don’t get to play on Saturdays, I still get to come out Monday

through Friday and play football.”
