Harbaugh totes glove on latest stop in ballpark tour

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh watches the Florida Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks game on Monday at Chase Field in Phoenix.

PHOENIX — First it was San Francisco, then it was Oakland. Now San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh appears to be moving east on his Major League Baseball tour.

Harbaugh attended Monday night’s Diamondbacks game against the Marlins at Chase Field as a guest of D-backs president of baseball operations Tony La Russa, and yes, he brought his glove.

Harbaugh even tried to make a play on a Gerardo Parra foul ball from a suite in the seventh inning, flashing the leather he sported at an A’s game in Oakland on Saturday and a Giants game in San Francisco two days earlier.

La Russa and Harbaugh became friends through Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean, a La Russa friend who is married to Harbaugh’s sister, Joani. La Russa even advised Harbaugh when he faced the decision of sticking with quarterback Colin Kaepernick or giving the starting job back to Alex Smith two seasons ago.

While Harbaugh’s baseball tour seems unofficial at this point, don’t be surprised if the khaki-loving head coach appears at a ballpark near you sometime soon.
