3 D-backs prospects selected for Fall Star game

Three Diamondbacks minor-league prospects — pitcher Jared Miller, third baseman Dawel Lugo and first baseman Kevin Cron — have been selected  for the East roster in Saturday's Arizona Fall League's Fall Star Game, scheduled for 5 p.m. at Surprise Stadium.

Miller has been brilliant in relief for the Salt River Rafters, working 11 innings over six games without allowing a run. He's struck out 19 while giving up only four hits and one walk.

Lugo is hitting .298 with four doubles and eight RBI in 13 games, Cron is hitting just .157 but is tied for the league lead with three home runs in 13 games.

Others in the game include former University of Arizona infielders Scott Kingery (Phillies) and Brandon Dixon (Reds) and pitcher James Farris (Cubs); first baseman Cody Bellinger (Dodgers) of Chandler and outfielder Alex Verdugo (Dodgers) of Tucson.

It was just two years ago that Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor was playing in the Fall Star game.
