D-backs at Nationals, 3:30 p.m., FOX Sports Arizona
Today's starting pitchers: RHP Archie Bradley (7-9, 5.02) vs. RHP Tanner Roark (15-9, 2.70). . . . Storylines: The Diamondbacks have lost 5 of 6 on the road trip, with 4 left to play, after scoring only 4 runs in a 3-game sweep up the road in Baltimore. The Nationals are coming home after a 4-5 road trip and clinched the NL East with a win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. But they are jockeying with the Dodgers for the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage in the postseason, so don't expect them to take their foot off the gas. . . . Watch: 3:30 p.m., FOX Sports Arizona and FOX Sports GO.

Nationals starting pitcher Tanner Roark
Roark has already matched his career high with 15 wins. He was the hard-luck loser on Tuesday when he gave up one run and three hits in seven innings in a 1-0 loss at Miami. His 2.70 ERA is fourth-best in the NL. . . . He was the winning pitcher in Washington's 10-4 victory over the D-backs on Aug. 2, giving up 3 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. . . . Those are the only earned runs he's ever surrendered to Arizona in 6 career appearances (3 starts), covering 24 1/3 innings. That translates to a 1.09 ERA.

The home stretch
Paul Goldschmidt is 9 for 20 with 3 home runs and 6 RBI on the road trip, but he's one of the few D-backs swinging a hot bat. Jake Lamb is 1 for 15 on the trip, Chris Owings is 3 for 24, Brandon Drury is 3 for 23 and Jean Segura is 4 for 22. . . . Segura needs 7 more hits to reach 200 for the season, Goldschmidt needs 9 RBI to crack 100, Yasmany Tomas is one home run shy of 30, and Lamb needs 2 round-trippers to reach 30.

Scouting the Nationals
The Nationals' lineup could be without 2 of their main cogs. Daniel Murphy, an MVP candidate who is hitting .347, has missed several games recently with a strained buttocks, and Bryce Murphy hurt his left thumb Sunday while sliding into third base with a triple. Both are considered day-to-day and could be candidates for additional rest given that the Nats have clinched. . . . Former D-back Stephen Drew has been filling in for Murphy at second base. . . . Rookie outfielder Trea Turner is finishing the season strong for Washington, hitting .320 with 7 home runs in 22 games this month. He has 12 homers, 27 stolen bases and a .336 average for the season in just 66 games.
