Brewers starting pitcher Matt Garza
The 32-year-old Garza has made only 7 starts after starting the season on the disabled list with a lat strain. He gave up 8 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) in 5 innings in a loss to the Pirates in his last start. . . . Garza has been one of the only Brewers pitchers to have any kind of success against D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who has a .518 career batting average (29 for 56) at Miller Park following his 3-hit effort on Monday night. Goldschmidt is only 2 for 15 against Garza, but he has drawn 5 walks. . . . Michael Bourn is 10 for 21 in his career vs. Garza, and Chris Owings is 4 for 7 with 2 doubles and a triple.

Jake Lamb was scorching hot coming out of the All-Star break, but he's 0 for 19 in his last 5 games. Chip Hale said Lamb's hand got jammed during last week's Toronto series, and he could need some time off to deal with the residual pain. . . . Phil Gosselin, who is 5 for 9 while starting the last 2 games, could be in line for some additional playing time.
Rest of the series
