AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose Set for WWE SmackDown, October 25

General Manager Daniel Bryan has set up a No. 1 Contender’s match for AJ Styles’ WWE title for next week.

On Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, James Ellsworth faced AJ Styles for the WWE title. The match was pretty entertaining and featured a fair share of Dean Ambrose. The Lunatic Fringe caused enough distraction and nuisance for the champ that he almost lost to Ellsworth.

After the show went off the air, during the Talking Smack segment, The Phenomenal One approached General Manager Daniel Bryan and demanded a match with Ambrose next week on SmackDown.

Bryan granted Styles what he wanted but like we say all things come with a price. As per Bryan’s decision, next Tuesday, AJ Styles will get his one on one match against Ambrose. If the latter wins wins, he will become the No. 1 Contender for Styles’ WWE Championship.

The news, while not at all surprising, is a welcome one. Styles doesn’t have any other challengers lined up for him at the moment. Ambrose has continued to remain in the title picture despite losing his rematch and No Mercy triple threat match. Regardless, this was the only logical option as there is no one else on SmackDown roster with enough momentum to challenge the Phenomenal one at the moment. These two have pretty good chemistry as well.

The feud between Ambrose and Styles will continue as the next chapter in this feud unfolds next week. Look for Ambrose to come on top somehow and then earn one more shot at the title. But if recent signs point in the right direction, expect Styles to retain his title yet again. Hopefully, by then, creative would come up with a new challenger for the WWE title. We are also yet to see Ambrose’s feud with Cena reach its full swing.
