New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Wednesday re-signed guard Becky Hammon to a multi-year contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not released. "Becky is a key piece of the New York franchise and our future," said senior vice president and general manager Carol Blazejowski. "She has proven herself to be an outstanding scorer and aggressive defender. Last season, Becky elevated her game to another level and we expect the same from her in 2004 and in the years to come."

The 26-year-old All-Star was limited to just 11 games in 2003, but still averaged a team-high 14.7 points per contest.

Despite sustaining a season-ending knee injury, Hammon was selected to the 2003 WNBA Eastern Conference All-Star team for the first time in her career.
