FOX Sports Wisconsin Girls – Chyna

Nickname: Chy Tea

Hometown: Wausau, Wisconsin

College Attended: University of Minnesota, Twin Cities – I didn’t go there for the sports!

What has been your favorite experience as a FOX Sports Wisconsin Girl? Honestly, every experience I have had has been incredible. I love getting to know the fans and community more and more every week, but I would have to say my favorite experience would be when I was a part of Spring Training to the Troops at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Words cannot do that trip justice and being able to spend a few days showing my appreciation and seeing life through the perspective of our service men and women is something that I will take with me forever. Plus, call me crazy, but I LOVED participating in Physical Training every morning with the troops!

What is your favorite sports memory? When the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers to win Super Bowl XLV. Obviously, it was amazing to see Aaron Rodgers leading my favorite team in the world to a championship, but what made it even sweeter was that I watched the game while in college at Minnesota amongst several Minnesota Vikings fans (A.K.A. NOT Green Bay fans). Given the natural Vikings/Packers rivalry it made this Super Bowl win that much sweeter and I had to seize the moment as much as I could to let them know that my team is the absolute greatest.

What is your favorite sports rivalry? I would say my favorite is Gophers vs. Badger hockey. Hockey is one of my favorite games to watch and both Wisconsin and Minnesota have had such talented and tough teams over the years that it always makes for a great and exciting match-up! Love those border battles!

What is your "go to" Super Bowl dish? Definitely nachos and taco dip. Oh my goodness, I can’t even talk about it without wanting to make some right now. Even just the classic chips and and salsa would make me happy.

What is your favorite sports movie? I have to say Miracle! Such a great story. I can’t even tell you how many times I have seen it and I may even have the Herb Brooks locker room speech entirely memorized…

What would your walk up song be? On man this is tough! I am a huge fan of old rock music so I think I would go with "Walk this Way" by Aerosmith. I have no particular reason except the fact that I love that song and it definitely would get me pumped up to hit one out of the park!

For  the ultimate sports fan, what are three things you would recommend to experience in your city?

1.    You must make it to Miller Park on a sunny afternoon for a Brewers game. When I say go to a Brewers game that includes getting to the game a few hours early and tailgating with the greatest fans in the best tailgating spot for baseball in the nation… No, I’m not biased.

2.    Next would be Lambeau Field for a game. You will never meet fans like Packers fans or see a place in which the whole city shuts down for game day. Looking for a parking spot? The lovely citizens of Green Bay will offer up their lawn to you on game day… Need I say more?

3.    Finally, you have to make it to Camp Randall for a Badger football game and participate in the tradition of ‘Jump Around’ in between the third and fourth quarters. Trust me, you won’t forget it!

Who has been the greatest influence on you being a sports fan and why? Both of my parents have always been into fitness and athletics, which is why I have always been such an athletic person. However, my Dad has definitely been my greatest influence. He is an avid hockey lover. He played growing up and has coached for many years, which has definitely rubbed off on the rest of my family and me. Apart from hockey, he always had sports on television and we had absolutely every piece of sporting equipment in our garage growing up and we would use it until it fell apart. I don’t know where my family would be without sports.

If you could play any position/role on any team, what would it be and why? I would be a defenseman in my favorite sport of hockey. The defenseman is like the quarterback of the team and are the guys that really see the ice and lead the team to make things happen. Like they say, "You come to see forwards play the game, but defenseman keep you in the game." Plus, it would be fun to show people I am much tougher that they might expect.

The FOX Sports Girls are involved in many community and charitable initiatives. Please tell us about your experiences and if you have a favorite charity or group you work with. We have been fortunate enough to participate in several community outreach events. We have done everything from rappelling off the side of Lambeau Field to jumping into a freezing cold lake in the dead of winter to support Special Olympics Wisconsin. Helping at the Special Olympics Summer Games was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had thus far. I was able to learn so much from the athletes after spending the entire day with them and left feeling incredibly humbled and inspired. Apart from Special Olympics I also love serving as a mentor for younger women at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. If I am in any position to be a role model for someone I will do whatever I can to make a difference.

The FOX Sports Girls participate in the annual Spring Training to the Troops. What ties to the military do you have? Spring Training to the Troops has been one of my most memorable and eye-opening experiences as a FOX Sports Wisconsin Girl. I have two grandfathers who served in the Military. One of my grandfathers was a paratrooper in the Korean War, which is why spending time with the paratroopers at Fort Bragg and even jumping out of a the 34-foot tower was incredible.  Knowing my grandfather experienced some of these same things, it felt like everything just came full circle.
