At East Lansing, Mich., Wisconsin was dealt a second consecutive 3-0 loss at the hands of Michigan State on Saturday night.
And, just as in Friday’s 3-0 Michigan State win, the Spartans were led by senior Matt Berry, who produced a goal and an assist. Berry tallied three total goals in Michigan State’s weekend sweep of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin, now 4-24-4 overall and 2-14-2-2 in Big Ten play, has been limited to two total goals over its last five games.
The Spartans (16-14-2 overall, 10-6-2-2 Big Ten) salted away Saturday night’s win by scoring a pair of third-period goals just 54 seconds apart. Ryan Keller scored the game’s final goal, at 4:54 of the final stanza. That provided more than enough offense for Michigan State netminder Jake Hildebrand, who recorded 38 saves.
Wisconsin got 28 saves from senior goalie Landon Peterson.
Wisconsin returns to action next Friday night at 7 p.m., when it hosts Ohio State to open the final conference series of the season.
