Cody Ransom’s shuttle from Phoenix to Milwaukee and back continued Friday.
Ransom, a 36-year-old journeyman infielder, was claimed off waivers Friday by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ransom had spent roughly three months with the Brewers, after Milwaukee had originally claimed him off waivers from Arizona on May 23.
Ransom, who can play shortstop and third base, started the season with Arizona’s organization and hit .269 through 17 early-season games with the Diamondbacks, before being waived. He then served as a capable, yet struggling option on the left side of the infield for Milwaukee.
Ransom entered the weekend hitting .214 overall this season, to go along with 10 home runs and 39 RBI. He had gone 3-for-4 with a home run Aug. 30 at Chicago.
Ransom is expected to be activated Saturday, when major league rosters expand.
