With its win, Wisconsin improved to 7-0-3 in its last 10 games. After not winning a WCHA regular-season overtime game since 2006, the Badgers won two in two nights over Minnesota State.
Wisconsin, now 8-7-5 overall and 6-5-5 in WCHA play, had jumped out to a 1-0 lead Saturday thanks to a goal from Jefferson Dahl. Minnesota State (14-8-2; 8-8-0 WCHA) tied things at 1-all at the 12:27 mark of the third period off a goal from Matt Leitner.
From there, however, the Badgers' defense stood tall. As a result, Wisconsin won despite allowing 36 shots on goal. Wisconsin got 35 saves from netminder Joel Rumpel.
Minnesota State was led by goalie Stephon Williams' 24 saves.
