Sam Hauser commits to Marquette

Stevens Point High School (Wis.) forward Sam Hauser announced Sunday he has verbally committed to Marquette University.

Hauser averaged 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.7 blocks while shooting 54.9 percent from the field and 49.7 percent from 3-point distance as a junior to lead Stevens Point to a 27-1 record and the WIAA Division I state championship in 2015.

The 6-foot-6 forward recently visited the University of Virginia. According to 247 Sports, Hauser had 10 scholarship offers, including from Virginia, Iowa State, Creighton and Northern Iowa.

Hauser is Steve Wojciechowski and Marquette’s first commitment for the class of 2016. Wojciechowski offered Hauser a scholarship last June, and the three-star recruit officially visited Marquette this weekend.

The Golden Eagles have also shown interest in his brother, Joey, a 6-foot-6 forward in the class of 2018.
