After spending time playing in Israel and the NBA's Developmental League, former Marquette guard Vander Blue will sign a 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics and make his NBA debut.
The signing was first reported by Yahoo Sports and later confirmed by Blue via Twitter. Boston is short at guard with Jerryd Bayless out with a toe injury and Avery Bradley injuring his ankle Tuesday night against Miami.
"God is amazing! I'm speechless right now....all it took was patience...." Blue tweeted on Tuesday night.
After surprising many by forgoing his senior season at Marquette, Blue spent the preseason with Philadelphia after going undrafted. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 15.2 minutes per game in five exhibition games with the 76ers before getting released a week before the regular season began.
Blue signed with Maccabi Rishon LeZion of the Israeli Super League in October and averaged 11.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 steals in seven games before getting released.
Just a week ago, Blue signed with Delaware of the D-League. He averaged 19.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in four games for the 87ers, including scoring 35 points on Monday night against Erie.
