Jones on fine: 'Man, that's a lot of money'

A league spokesperson noted that the fine was assessed because Jones struck Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford "in the head area" on a hit.
"It was pretty expensive," Jones told FOXSportsWisconsin.com on Friday. "I got a note in my locker, and I was like, ‘Man, that’s a lot of money.’ It’s a lot of money."
Jones was flagged for a 15-yard penalty late in the second quarter. It was one of two personal fouls committed by Jones in the game, but his facemask penalty did not result in a fine.
"I’m definitely going to appeal it, absolutely," Jones said.
It’s not the first time in Jones’ four-year NFL career that he’s been fined.
"My rookie year, I got fined for hitting Kurt Warner below the knees," Jones said. "That was $5,000. This one is three times that. They’re tripling it."
This is the second straight game in which a Packers player has been fined. After Week 9, tight end Ryan Taylor was fined $21,000 by the NFL for an illegal block during a kickoff return.
"Fines are coming down very heavy this year," Jones said. "I didn’t think it was malicious or anything. Hopefully the appeal will go well."
