Badgers rank No. 14 in preseason top-25 poll

Wisconsin’s football program came in at No. 14 in the preseason Associated Press Top-25 poll, released Sunday afternoon — the same ranking the Badgers were given nearly three weeks earlier in the coaches poll.

And, like the coaches poll, only two of Wisconsin’s regular season opponents cracked the top 25: No. 13 LSU and No. 22 Nebraska. Wisconsin takes on LSU on Aug. 30 in Houston for the season opener, and the Badgers play host to Nebraska on Nov. 15.

In total, four Big Ten programs are ranked in the first AP Top-25: Ohio State (5), Michigan State (8), Wisconsin (14) and Nebraska (22). The Big Ten has the third-most ranked teams behind the SEC (eight) and the Pac-12 (six).
