Badgers men's hockey holds off Penn State

The No. 17-ranked Badgers got an early goal from Sean Little in the first period, but that simply set off a back-and-forth battle between the two, new Big Ten conference rivals.
Wisconsin star Nic Kerdiles eventually broke a 3-all deadlock with roughly eight minutes remaining, providing the night's game-winning goal. Kerdiles' seventh goal of the season came when he ripped home a tally to the top shelf that the Penn State netminder scarcely had time to react to.
Wisconsin also got goals from Michael Mersch and Joe Faust in its victory. Penn State (3-8-1 overall, 0-2-0 Big Ten), was led by Matthew Skoff's 27 saves.
Wisconsin (6-5-1 overall, 2-2-0 Big Ten) returns to action against Colorado College next Friday at 6:30 p.m., at the Kohl Center.
