One area coach said it was just like having two Division I's -- one for public schools and one for private schools.
With realignment, comes intrigue -- and the most interesting aspect about CIF's most recent change is the new West Valley Division or "public school division," if you will.
The new division, No. 6 on our list of "15 Reasons to Get Excited for the 2014 CIF-SS High School Football Season" features the Baseline, Foothill, South Coast, Southwestern and Sunset leagues.
Whe you stop and only look at the coaches in the division, there are a lot of wins and some of the best of the best to ever do it in Southern California High School football history.
Los Alamitos' John Barnes is the all-time winningest head coach in Orange County.
Hart won five CIF titles in six years under Mike Herrington, from 1998-2003. The program had a return to glory last season by winning its first CIF title in 10 years.
Before turning Mission Viejo into a winner, Bob Johnson had been winning big just up the road at El Toro.
Edison's Dave White is one of the most respected coaches around; and Coley Candaele has turned Vista Murrieta into a legit power over the last few years.
The road to the finals in this division will be no small task due in part to the coaching prowess throughout the West Valley Division.
