ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Angels pitcher Jered Weaver left Monday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays after two innings because of what the team said was "lower back tightness."

Weaver, 9-6 with a 3.56 ERA, has had an injury-free season, although he has had back issues in the past.

He worked two perfect innings against the Blue Jays, then went to the mound for the third inning and threw several warm-up pitches before leaving.

Right-hander Matt Shoemaker, who was scheduled to pitch Thursday when the Angels open a four-game series at Texas, replaced Weaver. Now, manager Mike Scioscia will have to reshuffle his rotation, making it likely that struggling lefty Hector Santiago will get another start.
